United States confirms Osama Bin Laden's death
The founder of the terrorist network Al Qaeda, Osama Bin Laden , and the man most wanted by the United States in the world died in an operation in Afghanistan, U.S. sources confirmed to CNN.
Bin Laden died in a military operation in Afghanistan and the body is held by U.S. forces, the sources said. The
al Qaeda leader was a U.S. ally during the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan in the seventies and even received training from the CIA.
Bin Laden, born in Saudi Arabia, created terrorist network of Al Qaeda after United States attacked Iraq in 1991 and U.S. troops stationed in Saudi Arabia. Then began a campaign of terror against U.S. interests and attacked the embassies of the country in Kenya and Tanzania in 1998.
The deadliest attack occurred on September 11, 2001 , when planes hijacked by Al Qaeda terrorists crashed into the twin towers of World Trade Center in New York and the Pentagon, killing 2,937 persons.
United States, in response, he invaded Afghanistan, where Osama Bin Laden was his refuge.
